Martine Guay, RP, DTATI, BA, DEC
I am a bilingual Professional Art Therapist and a Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario. I utilize art as a means of holistic expression. I believe in the potential for positive, continuous growth and change for everyone. I combine art and talk therapy to explore and unpack thoughts and feelings in a safe, supportive and creative space. My approach is person-centred and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) informed. My DBT certificate is currently being completed as well.
I graduated from individual studies at Glendon College/York University which included studies in drama, scenography, dance, cinema and visual art; this led me to graduate status with a Master’s Degree Diploma in art therapy (art therapy combines the creation process to psychotherapy). My thesis was completed at the Toronto Art Therapy Institute. Its title was the “Impact of Group Art Therapy on the Quality of Life for Acquired Brain Injury Survivors” and it was recognized internationally and published in the American Art Therapy Association Journal. The experience I have acquired as an Art Therapist has exposed me to the various facets of therapy in expressing and managing emotional, cognitive and physical challenges.
